Clean Air Plan and the AQMD

Share

Maybe it will be necessary for the EPA to impose federal emission controls on the South Coast air basin (“EPA Condemns Private Sector’s Clean Air Plans,” Metro, Dec. 17). Actually, I hope the Feds act to move up the whole process. The year 2007 is too long to wait for clean air in Los Angeles. The responsible agents have been aware of the need for prompt action for more than 20 years.

California should put itself in the forefront in this fight for a clean environment. The only way to put this effort into high gear is to start. As a third-generation Californian, I’m ashamed of the way California’s leaders have shunted the problem of clean air from one year and one administration to another.
