Kevin McReynolds, New York Mets outfielder, Monday agreed to a 3-year contract worth $5.5 million.

McReynolds, who threatened to become a free agent after the 1989 season if he didn’t get a multiyear contract by Jan. 1, will receive a $500,000 signing bonus, $1.6 million in 1989, $1.3 million in 1990 and $2.1 million in 1991.

Tom Selakovich, McReynolds’ agent, said McReynolds will receive $2.3 million next season. A source said the Mets will pay $200,000 of McReynolds’ 1990 salary in 1989.
