Thadrow Captures Los Alamitos Feature
Thadrow survived a duel with favorite Moscato Beach Thursday to win the California Breeders Championship for 2-year-old trotting colts at Los Alamitos Race Course.
Making only his third lifetime start, Thadrow won his second stakes in his first month of racing.
Owned by Marvin and Judy Hannah, trained by James Grundy and driven by Steve Desomer, Thadrow trotted the mile in 2:03.1. Thadrow’s share of the $25,768 purse lifted his earnings to $25,000.
Sent off as the third choice in the wagering, Desomer moved Thadrow quickly to the front where he was challenged by Moscato Beach after the first quarter. The two battled for 3 quarters before Thadrow opened up a clear lead on the final turn.
