Local News in Brief : Officers Hurt as Car Collides With Cruiser
A speeding motorist slammed into a pursuing police cruiser Sunday morning in Northridge, slightly injuring the officers in the car, said Lt. Frank Malan of the Los Angeles Police Department.
David E Graham Jr., 21, was taken to Van Nuys jail and booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer and drunk driving.
Malan said that Graham was being pursued by officers at about 8 a.m. when he slammed into a power pole but managed to keep driving. He made a U-turn and drove into the cruiser’s right fender, causing moderate damage, police said.
Graham was arrested after he pulled his car into a driveway and tried to escape on foot.
