LOCAL : Anaheim Man Killed Crossing Street

A 46-year-old man was struck and killed Thursday night as he walked across South Beach Boulevard in Anaheim. Larry Pughlaska Mandrell of Anaheim was struck at 7:24 p.m. in the 200 block by a southbound vehicle, Police Sgt. Frank Van De Weerd said. Mandrell was not at an intersection. He suffered massive head and chest injuries, and died at 10:30 p.m. at UCI Medical Center in Orange. The driver was not cited, but the investigation is continuing, Van De Weerd said.
