Local News in Brief : Part of Mulholland Closed After Crash

Share

A section of Mulholland Drive just east of the San Diego Freeway was closed for five hours early Sunday after a car slid on ice, went over the side of the road and down a 30-foot embankment, officials said.

No one was injured in the 3 a.m. accident near Sherman Oaks, which led to the closing of Mulholland between Roscomare and Woodcliff roads, police said. Water flowing from a Mulholland Drive home onto the street had frozen, making it unsafe, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Steve Turley. Officials were unable to contact the residents of the home, he said.

The road was reopened at 8:30 a.m., a city Department of Transportation spokesman said.
