Share

A mild earthquake shook San Diego County on Sunday morning, but no damage was reported from what scientists said was an aftershock of a 1986 quake.

The temblor occurred at 7:39 a.m. and measured 4.0 on the Richter scale, according to Hall Daily, a spokesman for the California Institute of Technology.

It was centered in the Pacific Ocean, about 28 miles southwest of Oceanside, Daily said.

The quake was an aftershock of one that occurred July 13, 1986, and measured 5.3 on the Richter scale, Hall said.
