A moderate earthquake on the ocean floor was felt along the coast of San Diego and Orange counties but caused no significant damage or injuries, authorities said. The magnitude 4.0 temblor was centered in the ocean 28 miles southwest of Oceanside, said Hall Daily, a spokesman for the Caltech Seismology Lab in Pasadena. The temblor was an aftershock of a 5.3 quake on July 13, 1986, Daily said. That quake was the strongest shake measured in San Diego County since monitoring of seismic events began in 1932. It had the exact same epicenter and also hit on a Sunday morning, shattering windows and cracking walls. Fourteen people suffered minor injuries and damage was estimated at $500,000.
