The FBI said it will investigate the writing of racist letters that warned two black San Bernardino police officers against seeking promotions to corporal and that threatened their families. The two letters, written on city stationery and signed by the “Police Brotherhood of the Aryan Police Assn.,” were found in an area of the police station accessible only to department employees. One letter said, “If you take the oral exam we will be forced to take action against you.” Department commanders said they were unaware of such an organization. An FBI spokesman said agents from the Riverside office will look into whether the civil rights of the two officers were violated.
