Despite a turbulent week in Miami, pro football’s annual mega-game--otherwise known as Super Bowl XXIII--will go on as scheduled Sunday.

NBC’s coverage of the extravaganza between the San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals opens with two hours of hype and hoopla at noon. Then at 2 p.m., Dick Enberg and Merlin Olsen report on the game from Joe Robbie Stadium on Channels 4, 36 and 39.

With the exception of the Phoenix Golf Open at 1:30 p.m. on CBS, NBC’s competitors are carrying their events on Sunday morning well before the Super Bowl kickoff.
