Local News in Brief : El Toro : Deputies Searching for Inmate Who Escaped

Orange County sheriff’s deputies were searching Friday for an inmate who escaped from a minimum security branch jail in El Toro.

A guard noticed that Michael Thomas King, 26, was missing from his bunk at the James A. Musick jail about 10:40 p.m. Thursday, Sheriff’s Sgt. Pete Gannon said.

King was arrested by Anaheim police Dec. 23 on a bench warrant charging him with violating probation by having a hypodermic syringe. He was scheduled to be released April 13.

Deputies searched the immediate area Thursday night and Friday were checking areas he was known to frequent, Gannon said.

King’s last known address was in Newport Beach. He is described as white, 5 feet, 5 inches tall, 120 pounds, with blond hair and hazel eyes. He is not considered dangerous.
