Collins’ Goal in Overtime Gives Lazers a 4-3 Comeback Victory Over Sidekicks

Michael Collins scored with 6:35 remaining in overtime to give the Los Angeles Lazers a 4-3 victory over the Dallas Sidekicks Saturday night.

Dallas’ Mark Karpun, who scored 3 goals, gave the Sidekicks (12-9) a 3-2 lead with his third goal with 11:19 remaining. But the Lazers (11-12) sent the game into overtime on Fernando Clavijo’s goal slighlty more than 2 minutes later.

The Lazers trailed, 1-0, but rallied to take a 2-1 halftime lead on goals by Bobby Joe Esposito and Steve Kinsey.

Karpun gave Dallas the early lead with a goal from Tatu’s assist 42 seconds into the game. Karpun’s second goal, a tap-in created by Tatu’s second assist, tied the score at 2-2 after 3 quarters.

The victory snapped a 9-game losing streak for the Lazers at Dallas. They last won in Reunion Arena on Jan. 12, 1985.
