Local News in Brief : Tarzana Mini-Mall Fire Burns Cosmetics Store
Fire erupted at a cosmetics store inside a Tarzana mini-mall Sunday, causing $45,000 in damage, fire officials said.
There were no injuries reported in the 5:30 p.m. blaze at Gloria’s Skin & Body Care in the 19400 block of Ventura Boulevard, said Jim Wells, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
It took 35 firefighters about 25 minutes to extinguish the fire, Wells said. Fire-resistant walls prevented the blaze from spreading to neighboring businesses in the one-story complex, officials said.
Damage was estimated at $35,000 to property and $10,000 to the contents, Wells said. The fire is believed to have been started by an electrical short, he said.
