A 29-year-old native of India, who allegedly wrote “Burn Cars and Save Kids” and “Melt All Cars” in English and Hindu near the sites of several fires, has been booked on suspicion of setting numerous blazes in Long Beach, Torrance and Gardena in a two-week period, police said. Ashok Dasari Babu was booked for arson and held on $5,000 bail, Torrance Police Lt. Harold Maestri said. Police, who circulated flyers with Babu’s picture, arrested him in Torrance Friday. No one was injured in the fires, which involved mailboxes, cars, dumpsters and stores.
