Two public libraries reopened in Shasta County after about $250,000 came from county, local and state sources to offset budget problems that caused their closure last June 30. The main Redding library and a branch in Anderson were back in operation. A third branch, in Burney, is scheduled to open March 1 with $5,400 in county and local funds. Leases on the county’s other seven branches have expired, said interim library director Carolyn Chambers, leaving most of the system’s 240,000 books in storage.
