A Rancho Penasquitos woman who had allegedly stabbed her 11-year-old son was found hanging in her cell Monday at Las Colinas Women’s Jail, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.

At 5:30 p.m., a deputy discovered Keon Ja Lee, 37, hanging from a noose made of two nightgowns. One end was tied to the top of the metal bunk bed, the other to her neck. Deputies cut her down and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation until she was taken to Grossmont Hospital. She was in grave condition Wednesday, supported by a respirator, authorities said.

The Sheriff’s Department did not disclose the incident until Wednesday because relatives had not been notified.

She allegedly stabbed her son, Chung Lim Lee, several times in the chest, throat and left hand Jan. 6. The boy escaped the attack and ran to the house of a neighbor, who called police.
