A 36-year-old Vista man was arrested Thursday in connection with the rape Jan. 17 of a 28-year-old Vista woman, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.

Alvaro Fernando Garcia, who lives in the 2400 block of Stockton Lane, was arrested after a two-week investigation by sheriff’s detectives, authorities said. He was identified in a photo lineup by the victim, who told authorities she was raped at gunpoint in her home.

Garcia was arrested in the 300 block of Osborne Street in Vista about 8 a.m. Thursday, a sheriff’s spokesman said. He was booked on suspicion of rape, burglary and assault with a deadly weapon, and is being held in the County Jail at Vista in lieu of $15,000 bail.
