Rain Causes Drag Races to Be Postponed Until Next Weekend
Heavy rains Saturday morning caused National Hot Rod Assn. officials to postpone qualifying and eliminations of the Chief Auto Parts Winternationals until next weekend on the Pomona Fairgrounds drag strip.
Time trials will resume Friday with the second round of qualifying, followed by two more rounds Saturday. Speeds posted last Thursday in the first round will be carried over. The quickest 16 cars in top fuel, funny car and pro stock from the four rounds, as well as sportsman car qualifiers, will race next Sunday in side-by-side eliminations.
