UCI’s Kronemann Wins Indoor Tennis Opener
Trevor Kronemann of UC Irvine defeated Francis Montana of Georgia, 6-3, 6-1, in the opening round of the National Intercollegiate indoor tennis championships in Minneapolis.
Kronemann also teammed with Mike Briggs to defeat Greg Finck and Ab Boonswang of Princeton, 6-4, 7-6.
Irvine’s other doubles team of Mark Kaplan and Richard Lubner defeated Mats Malmberg and Mikael Stadling of Trinity University, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Kronemann, the 13th-ranked player in the nation, plays top-ranked Malivai Washington of Michigan today in the second round.
