Shootings at two Sun Valley bars today and Sunday left two men dead and another injured, Los Angeles police said.

The two incidents are not believed to be related, Detective Mike Coffey said.

The first shooting occurred at 9 p.m. Sunday at the Tabu Room bar on Sherman Way. A dispute between Agapito B. Cervantes, 27, of North Hollywood and an unidentified man ended when Cervantes was shot in the upper body, Coffey said.

Pedro G. Robles, 20, of Pacoima, who was standing outside the bar, heard the shot and ran into the bar to see what had happened. The gunman then turned on Robles and shot him as he tried to run back out of the bar. Robles did not know Cervantes or the gunman.

The gunman fled, and the two victims were taken to local hospitals. Cervantes died at 9:30 p.m. at Pacifica Hospital of the Valley before detectives could determine what the dispute was about. Robles was treated and released from North Hollywood Medical Center.

Coffey said another fatal shooting occurred at 2 a.m. today in the parking lot of Lalo’s Bar, in the 8200 block of San Fernando Road in Sun Valley. He said patrons inside the bar heard gunfire outside and came out to find a man lying dead in the parking lot as a car sped away.

Coffey said the victim, about 25 years old, had no identification. There were no suspects, and no motive was known for the shooting.
