LOCAL : Fullerton Man Kills Wife, Then Self

A Fullerton man fatally shot his estranged wife and then himself after an argument Monday night, police said. Anaheim Police Sgt. Chet Barry said the 31-year-old man, whose name was withheld pending notification of his family, went to the Travelodge motel in the 1700 block of East Katella Avenue about 9:30 p.m. to see his wife, Sandra Melendez, a hotel employee. Witnesses said they heard three shots fired after Melendez and her husband, who had recently separated, had an argument. When police arrived at the hotel, near Anaheim Stadium, both were found in the hotel’s office. Paramedics pronounced Melendez, who was in her 30s, and her husband dead at the scene.
