New York Yankee pitcher Charles Hudson, 6-6 last season with a 4.49 earned-run average, avoided arbitration by settling for a one-year contract worth $525,000. Hudson, who made $450,000 last year, asked for $580,000 in arbitration and the Yankees offered $475,000.
