NHL Roundup : Canadiens Get First Win at Philadelphia Since 1984

Shayne Corson scored twice as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Philadelphia Flyers, 7-4, Thursday night at Philadelphia.

It was Montreal’s first win at the Spectrum in five years. In that time, the Canadiens were 0-4-2.

The victory was the Canadiens’ sixth in their last seven games, whereas the Flyers have lost six of eight.

Corson’s second score broke a 4-4 tie with 1:01 left in the second period, beating goaltender Ron Hextall. Bobby Smith and Brian Skrudland made it 7-4 with goals 1:02 apart in the third period.

Islanders 7, St. Louis 3-- Reed Larson’s tiebreaking score highlighted a four-goal second period as the Islanders beat the Blues at Uniondale, N.Y.

Blue goalie Greg Millen, the National Hockey League leader in shutouts with six, had blanked the Islanders twice this season, 8-0 and 5-0. But Millen was yanked midway through the second period after giving up six goals in 23 shots.

Vancouver 3, Quebec 2--Jim Sandlak’s goal with 4:38 to play at Vancouver gave gave the Canucks the victory that stretched their winning streak to four games.

Sandlak took a drop pass from Rich Sutter at the top of the right circle and ripped a slap shot between the legs of Quebec goaltender Ron Tugnutt.
