Steffi Graf, continuing her domination of the field, had seven aces Friday in a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Helen Kelesi that put her in the semifinals of a $300,000 women’s tennis tournament at Fairfax, Va.

Graf needed only 49 minutes to eliminate Canada’s top-ranked player, yielding only seven points on her serve and 25 overall. Graf has now lost only three games in three matches this week and has averaged 43 minutes per outing.

She will face Natalia Zvereva of the Soviet Union, who won the final nine games in a 6-2, 6-0 victory over countrywoman Leili Meskhi.

Today’s other semifinal will pit 15-year-old Monica Seles of Yugoslavia against Zina Garrison. Seles, the surprise of the tournament, advanced with a 6-2, 6-4 win over third-seeded Manuela Maleeva of Bulgaria. Garrison won the final 10 games in a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Puerto Rico’s Gigi Fernandez.

West Germany’s Graf, the world’s top-ranked player, lost the first point of the match before running off 13 straight points to take control. Graf shook off two game points to get a break in the fourth game, then won the set when Kelesi hit a forehand volley well past the baseline.

After yielding only 10 points in the first set, Graf opened the second set with an ace and bolted to a 3-0 lead. After Kelesi held serve at 30 to pull within 3-1, Graf served an ace and had two service winners.

Unseeded Eric Jelen of West Germany and Alexander Volkov of the Soviet Union reached the semifinals of a $492,500 indoor tournament at Milan, Italy.

Jelen, a member of the West German team that won the Davis Cup final in Sweden last December, beat Italy’s Paolo Cane, 6-1, 6-2, in a 55-minute quarterfinal match, while Volkov defeated Slobodan Zivojinovic of Yugoslavia, 7-6, 6-3.
