A pipe bomb broke a window and caused minor damage to a student locker and doorway at Sierra Elementary School in Santa Ana sometime over the weekend, police said Sunday. However, no one was reported injured by the blast.
Security officers with the Santa Ana Unified School District noticed the damage about 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the campus at 1901 N. McClay St., Santa Ana Police Sgt. Collie Provence said. The motive for planting the small bomb was unknown, he said.
It appeared that the bomb had been detonated sometime during the weekend when school was not in session, but no one was known to have seen or heard the explosion, Provence said.
