Local News in Brief : Costa Mesa : Transient Who Died Is Identified by Police
A man who died shortly after being arrested by Costa Mesa police for public drunkenness has been identified as Frank Richard Balistreri, 47, a transient who had been living in Orange County, police said Sunday.
Balistreri was arrested early Saturday morning at a Jack-In-The-Box Restaurant on Harbor Boulevard. He was taken to the Costa Mesa City Jail, where jailers found at 5:30 a.m. that he was having difficulty breathing.
Paramedics were called and Balistreri was transported to College Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:02 a.m.
Results of an autopsy were not available, Costa Mesa Police Lt. Alan Kent said.
