Ken Towery, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and newspaper publisher, has been elected chairman of the board of directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. He will serve from March 2 to Sept. 11, when the annual election of officers is held. Towery, who publishes three newspapers in western and central Texas and is the former press secretary to former Sen. John Tower, was nominated by President Reagan and has been on the CPB board since 1981. He will replace Howard Gutin, whose term on the board expires March 1.
