Downey : County Yields Water Rights for Business Park
In a deal to provide water for its expanding Rancho Los Amigos business park, Los Angeles County has agreed to pay Downey $295,000 and give the city water rights worth another $120,000.
The agreement, approved Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors, eliminates the need to spend $1.5 million to refurbish and enlarge the current water system that serves the Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center, officials said.
Downey, which is planning an expansion of its water system, has agreed to provide water to the new business park, Downey Municipal Court and the county library in Downey, officials said.
Business park development already has been approved for 37 acres south of Imperial Highway and east of Old River School Road near Rancho Los Amigos Hospital. Another 113 acres is expected to be developed.
