Doesn’t the academy recognize movies with originality and vision anymore?
There was a time when films such as “Reds,” “Apocalypse Now,” “Taxi Driver” and “A Clockwork Orange” were nominated for best picture. Now we see films such as “Rain Man” and “Working Girl” up for the big prize, while “Tucker,” “The Last Temptation of Christ,” “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” and “Bird” are relegated to the status of also-rans.
