I think there is too much killing in many of the new television series. One that comes to mind is “A Man Called Hawk.” Avery Brooks is a fine actor, an educated man who was excellent in “Spenser: For Hire,” but as “Hawk” he just shoots people. For me, the best part of crime stories is the solving of a crime, not the committing of it. The writers have gone overboard in the wrong direction and are setting a bad example for impressionable young people who only see the guns. Give us more “Columbo” type-stories.
