Driver Charged With Assault, Theft

A 22-year-old La Mesa woman was arrested over the weekend in connection with a series of reckless driving incidents along Interstate 5, National City police said.

Marcia Gail Hillier was arrested Friday evening on suspicion of 12 counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one of auto theft, Lt. Michael Connelly said.

According to authorities, Hillier, who was driving a stolen vehicle south on I-5 about 9:30 p.m. and sideswiped several cars near the interchange of I-5 with I-15. Hillier, traveling at speeds of 50 to 60 m.p.h., allegedly continued ramming cars until she crashed into the freeway’s center divider in Chula Vista.

No injuries were reported, Connelly said.

Hillier was being held in the County Jail at Las Colinas.
