Edberg, Gilbert Win; Muster Eliminated by Mansdorf

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Second-seeded Stefan Edberg of Sweden and sixth-seeded Brad Gilbert won their second-round matches in contrasting fashion Wednesday, while fourth-seeded Thomas Muster of Austria was eliminated by unseeded Amos Mansdorf in the $415,000 Eagle tennis tournament.
Mansdorf, of Israel, defeated Muster, 7-5, 6-2.
Edberg, the 1988 Wimbledon champion currently ranked fourth in the world, needed just 77 minutes to beat Austrian Horst Skoff, 7-5, 6-3.
Gilbert, who won this WCT event in 1987, when it was called the Scottsdale Open, struggled before turning back Scott Davis, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
