IN BRIEF : TCU Advances in Cage Classic

Danny Hughes scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half as third-seeded Texas Christian defeated sixth-seeded Texas Tech 84-66 today in the quarterfinals of the Southwest Conference post-season basketball classic. TCU, 17-12, advances to Saturday’s semifinals against the winner of today’s later quarterfinal between Texas and Southern Methodist. Tech finishes 13-15. TCU’s victory overshadowed the play of Tech guard Jerry Mason, who scored a career-high 33 points.
