Cal State Fullerton rallied for two runs in the ninth inning for a 5-4 victory over United States International University in a nonconference baseball game Friday at Fullerton.

USIU scored two unearned runs in the top of the ninth to take a 4-3 lead.

However, a throwing error by third baseman Pat Cheek put Fullerton’s David Staton on second base to start the bottom of the ninth. Rod Kopfler then doubled to left, but Staton was thrown out at home, with Kopfler taking third. Rich Gonzales then doubled to tie the score, 4-4.

After a wild pitch moved Gonzales to third, Ralph Ramirez singled to left for the game-winning RBI.
