Youth Pulls Gun in Class, Fulfills Hints at Suicide

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. —
A student who had joked about committing suicide shot himself in the head in front of his classmates Tuesday and died three hours later. Jefferson City High School Supt. Larry Fowlkins said that Donald Payne, 14, turned the handgun on himself at the beginning of his ninth-grade science class and fired one shot.
