Prep Baseball Roundup : Fountain Valley Comes Back to Overtake Rolling Hills

Matt Hallock had two hits, including a run-scoring single in the eighth inning and Fountain Valley High School rallied for a 4-3 victory over Rolling Hills in a nonleague baseball game Wednesday at Fountain Valley.

Steve Lancaster led off the eighth with a single to right and went to second on an error. After Darren LaPoint walked, Hallock singled to center to score Lancaster.

Hallock also had a solo home run in the third.

Fountain Valley (5-3) trailed, 3-2, going into the seventh. With one out, John Orcher singled to right and went to second on an error. Mark Dodd doubled to tie the score, 3-3.

Don Crossett went the distance for the victory. Crossett (2-0) struck out 10 and allowed four hits.

Mission Viejo 15, Villa Park 2--Troy Kopp and Jeff Hawkins each hit two-run homers in the fifth to lead the Diablos (3-2) at home. The Diablos scored six runs in the first on three hits, three walks and a hit batter. Lance Sabella had four hits and scored four runs for Mission Viejo.

La Habra 5, Whittier Christian 2--David Stevens was three for three with an RBI and Jim Crow had a two-run triple to lead host La Habra (4-2). Whittier Christian is 3-2.

La Quinta 11, Cypress 4--Jason Parsons had two hits and two RBIs as the Aztecs (7-2) won their sixth game in seven days with a victory at Cypress. Jason Cherms and Jeff Swift each had two hits, three runs scored and one RBI for La Quinta.

Liberty Christian 17, Garden Grove Claremont 4--Brian James had four hits, including two doubles and a home run, and six RBIs to lead Liberty Christian (4-0) at Brookhurst Park.

Long Beach Jordan 7-8, Huntington Beach 4-3--Ralph Ramirez had four hits and three RBIs in the two games to help Jordan (7-2) sweep. Huntington Beach is 3-6.

St. John Bosco 5, Bolsa Grande 2--Jeff Henderson pitched four innings, striking out three and giving up just two hits for visiting St. John Bosco (7-0). Jerry Maldonado was two for four with an RBI for Bolsa Grande (4-2). Andy Miramontes of Bolsa Grande was two for three with a stolen base.

Don Lugo 7, Orange Lutheran 2--Matt Myers had a two-run double to lead Don Lugo (6-1) at Orange Lutheran. Chris Hall had two hits and a RBI for Don Lugo. Phil Matherson drove in a run for Orange Lutheran.
