Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Curtis Strange and more than a dozen other top golfers will participate in a five-day charity golf tournament in November at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks.

Details of the tournament, including the names of other participants, will be announced April 24 at the Ronald McDonald House in Los Angeles. The tournament will benefit the Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities, according to Neil Cohen, a spokesman for the public-relations firm of Gelman and Gray, which has organized the tournament.

The format calls for a pro-am event Nov. 15-16, followed by an 18-hole best-ball tournament among teams of pros on Friday, a pro scramble event on Saturday and a two-man, alternate-shot event on Sunday.

Nicklaus was the Tour’s leading money winner three consecutive years beginning in 1971 and, after falling to second in 1974, he returned to the top of the money list in 1975 and 1976.

Norman, an Australian, was the PGA Tour’s leading money winner in 1986 when he won two tournaments and finished second in four others in the United States. He also won the British Open that year.

Strange was the Tour’s leading money winner in 1985, ’87 and last year. He has won 16 tournaments, including the 1988 U.S. Open.
