Share

Eddie Bowling of Canoga Park High made a name for himself last season in the high jump, winning the City Section championship. And in the early stages of the ’89 season, he has developed into a standout in the long jump and triple jump as well.

He won all three events in a Northwest Valley Conference track meet against Kennedy on Friday, as the Hunters upset the Golden Cougars, 66-59, at Canoga Park.

Bowling, a senior, also anchored the victorious mile relay (3 minutes, 35.2 seconds) as Canoga Park (2-1, 2-1 in league meets) won nine of 15 events, including both relays.

Bowling, who leaped 6 feet, 4 inches in the high jump, 21-5 in the long jump and 43-10 in the triple jump, had plenty of help from his teammates, particularly Robin Kim.

Kim won the 100 in 10.8 seconds, the 200 in 22.4, anchored Canoga Park’s victorious 400 relay (44.2) and ran the third leg on the mile relay.

Kennedy (2-1) was paced by George Duran, who won the 1,600 (4:49.0) and 3,200 (10:25.6).
