Local News in Brief : Stanton : Arsonist Blamed for Stanton Spa Co. Blaze
Fire officials said Monday that arson was the cause of a blaze that gutted a spa distributorship in Stanton, causing $290,000 in damage.
Firefighters were called to the Spa Co. in the 1000 block of Beach Boulevard at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday after a passer-by spotted smoke coming from the business.
“The cause was arson and the circumstances are still under investigation,” said Orange County fire spokeswoman Patti Range.
It took 60 firefighters about an hour to control the blaze, which destroyed the contents of the warehouse and showroom.
No one was injured, officials said, but several firefighters narrowly escaped injury when part of the building’s overhang collapsed, Range said.
