The State : Yosemite Local Agrees to Pact
A tentative contract settlement was reached between the Yosemite Park and Curry Co. and the national park’s unionized restaurant and hotel workers, who had threatened to go on strike today. Union members instead planned to meet today to vote on the proposed three-year contract. John Poimiroo, a spokesman for the Curry Co., said leadership of Local 752 of the Service Employees International was expected to recommend approval of the pact, which called for wage increases and improved health and insurance benefits for about 1,400 employees. Exact terms were not disclosed. The union’s previous contract expired a week ago and the tentative agreement followed around-the-clock contract talks.
