A 35-year-old Laguna Hills resident was killed and three people were injured when their cars collided on Coast Highway in Dana Point early Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A southbound car driven by the Laguna Hills resident was turning left from Coast Highway onto Street of the Copper Lantern when it collided with an oncoming car driven by David Black, 24, of Laguna Niguel, officers said.

The driver of the southbound car was killed, but Black survived with moderate injuries, officers said. Two passengers in Black’s car were taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo with moderate to major injuries. They are William Kaplinger, 22, of South Laguna and Steven Muniz, 23, of Laguna Niguel.
