Kevin Kenner, a 26-year-old pianist from Coronado, will be one of 40 competitors performing in the Van Cliburn International Competition May 27-June 11 in Ft. Worth, Tex. More than 200 pianists auditioned in 17 cities around the world to reach this level in the prestigious competition, held once every four years. Angela Cholakyan of Los Angeles was the only other competitor from Southern California to reach this level. In 1987, Kenner was a grand prize winner in the New York Chopin Competition.
