Local News in Brief : RTD Bus Erupts in Flames Near Airport
An RTD bus with only the driver aboard burst into flames Tuesday morning near Los Angeles International Airport.
Officials believe the fire started as an electrical short in the dashboard and spread to the plastic-covered foam seats, which emitted clouds of dark smoke.
The bus had just started its route to Norwalk and the driver escaped uninjured.
RTD officials said the bus is a total loss and put its value at $148,000.
