Local News in Brief : Countywide : New Wayne Airport Entrance Opens Today
A new entrance to John Wayne Airport will open at noon today at Michelson Drive and MacArthur Boulevard, airport officials said.
The old entrance, at MacArthur and the San Diego Freeway, will be closed at the same time.
Traffic moving through the new entrance will cross a new bridge covering a depressed roadway. Neither the road nor the new terminal is complete.
The new bridge, which is part of the airport’s $310-million airport expansion program, allows traffic to exit right or left onto MacArthur, or straight ahead into Michelson Drive.

Westbound traffic from Michelson will not be able to cross MacArthur Boulevard directly into the airport. Motorists on Michelson who wish to enter theairport must turn south on MacArthur and use the Campus Drive entrance.
