IN BRIEF : Foyt Enters Indianapolis 500 Race
Four-time Indianapolis 500 winner A. J. Foyt has been added to the list of entries for the May 28 race, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced today.
Foyt, 54, entered a five-car field as the list of entries reached 90. Entries had to be postmarked before midnight Monday and race officials expect an additional 10-12 entries.
Foyt, who won at Indianapolis in 1961, 1964, 1967 and 1977, is listed as the driver of a 1989 Lola with Cosworth power. The other Foyt entries are a 1986 March-Chevrolet turbopowered V-6, a 1987 Lola-Cosworth, a 1986 March-Cosworth and a 1989 Lola-Cosworth.
Official practice for the race begins May 6 with the first of four days of time trials slated May 13.
