The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Film on Tuesday released nominations for the 16th annual Saturn Awards. Best science fiction film nominees are “Alien Nation,” “The Blob,” “Cocoon: The Return,” “My Stepmother Is an Alien,” “Short Circuit 2: More Input” and “They Live.” Best fantasy film nominees are “Big,” “The Land Before Time,” “Scrooged,” “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” “Willow” and “Without a Clue.” Best horror film nominees are “Beetlejuice,” “Childsplay,” “Dead Ringers,” “Halloween IV: The Return of Michael Myers,” “Hellbound: Hellraiser II,” “Nightmare on Elm St. 4: The Dream Master” and “Waxwork.” Nominated for best TV program: “Beauty and the Beast,” “Freddie’s Nightmares,” “Friday the 13th: The Series,” “Out of This World,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” “Superboy” and “War of the Worlds.” The date for the awards ceremony has not been set but may be “toward the end of the summer, almost into fall,” said a spokesman.
