A 17-year-old stabbed Monday in what police described as a gang “pay-back” at Santa Monica College died of his wounds Thursday, a hospital spokesman said.

The youth was identified as Robert Parga of Venice. Another juvenile wounded in the fight, which broke out Monday evening on the edge of the campus, remained hospitalized Thursday but was expected to recover.

Two juveniles arrested in the fight have been charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, and three adults were charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

The district attorney’s office said it was considering adding murder charges to all or some of the cases after Parga’s death.

In the attack, which was photographed by a passer-by, several reputed gang members from Venice jumped two youths from Santa Monica in retaliation for an alleged earlier attack by Santa Monica gang members on Venice rivals, police said.
