Strawberry Named in Paternity Suit by Missouri Woman
Darryl Strawberry of the New York Mets was named in a paternity lawsuit filed Friday by a St. Louis County woman who is seeking more than $11,000 a month in child support, the woman’s lawyer said.
Attorney Stuart Cofman said he filed the lawsuit in St. Louis County Circuit Court on behalf of Lisa Clayton.
Cofman said the lawsuit had been sealed by the court, but he confirmed that it alleges that Strawberry fathered a child with the woman. Cofman said the baby is less than a year old.
Cofman said Clayton and Strawberry had been unable to reach an out-of-court settlement.
Strawberry’s agent, Eric Goldschmidt, did not return a phone call from the Associated Press. Met publicity director Jay Horwitz said Strawberry would not comment.
