Malaysia Air to Buy Jets: In its largest deal, government-owned Malaysia Airlines will buy at least 16 U.S.-made Boeing 737 jetliners for about $400 million, the airline’s managing director, Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, announced. The purchase is part of the airline’s expansion and modernization program. The deal would involve 10 Boeing 737-400 aircraft and six or seven 737-500 aircraft, Aziz said. The new planes will replace the airline’s 12 aging Boeing 737-200 aircraft. He said Malaysia Airlines is expected to sign a purchase agreement with Boeing Co. next month.
