Countywide : Caltrans Projects Will Affect Traffic

Caltrans officials announced several projects Monday that will affect traffic in several areas of Orange County during the next few weeks.

Field survey operations for the eventual widening of the Riverside Freeway, California 91, began Monday and will continue for about 3 months, officials said.

Field survey work will occur in the freeway median between Gypsum Canyon Road and the Orange-Riverside county line from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Surveying began eastbound Monday, and will continue westbound Tuesday, officials said.

Similar work between Weir Canyon Road and Gypsum Canyon Road will occur during the same hours eastbound on Wednesday, and westbound on Thursday.

Between Coal Canyon Road and the Orange-Riverside county line, the same type of activity is scheduled eastbound for Friday, at the same hours.

The No. 1 and 2 lanes on the northbound Santa Ana Freeway, Interstate 5, will be closed half a mile south and half a mile north of the Jeffrey Road exit for restriping from 11 p.m. today until 5 a.m. Wednesday. the No. 2 and 3 lanes will be closed at the same location for the same activity from 11 p.m. Wednesday until 5 a.m. Thursday. However, the northbound Jeffrey Road on- and off-ramps will also be closed as well as the northbound Sand Canyon on-ramp.

Also, Del Mar Street at Newport Boulevard will be closed in both directions from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday for the construction of a detour related to the extension of the Costa Mesa Freeway, California 55.
